Bringing bike enthusiasts together to raise awareness and funds for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia
THE ULTIMATE ROADIE - WITH A PURPOSE!
On 22 October 2022, the Long Ride Australia 2022 began a nationwide motorbike tour. Groups departed from locations across Australia, touring long days to make it to the end destination at Victor Harbor, South Australia on the 28th of October. Along the journey, riders fostered camaraderie and mateship amongst a likeminded group who shared a common passion for motorbike touring. This was more than a joyride with underlying purpose to raise awareness and funds for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia. Over $88,000 was raised for the cause.

ABOUT:
Chris and Gail Dunne developed the idea of the Long Ride in 2004 when Chris was nearing retirement from the RAAF. Run biennially this year’s Long Ride will be the 11th event since conception and has attracted a wide range of bike enthusiasts, including many veterans over the years.
VETERANS GETTING BEHIND IT:
With a veteran leading the charge, it’s no wonder the event has and continues to receive strong support from the defence community.
The Darwin 2019 Long Ride, attracted over 350 riders of which nearly 50% were either in the ADF or veterans.
WHY:
This long-distance group ride is all about bringing bike enthusiasts together, to enjoy the freedom of open road riding, without the risk solo riders face.
Each night we will stay in a different town and each day we will see different sights in magnificent locations. You will meet a great crew of people, who share a common love for riding which becomes the basis of lifelong friendships.
This charitable event sets out to raise awareness of Prostate Cancer with every dollar raised going back to the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.
This is the real thing, life on the road.
FUNDRAISING for PROSTATE CANCER
Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australian men, with over 20,000 men diagnosed each year. Tragically more than 3,300 Australian men die from this cancer each year.
Each participant is encouraged to fundraise at least $1000 in donations or sponsorship.
All funds raised through the Long Ride 2022 will be donated to the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA) to support the life-saving research and support services offered to men affected by prostate cancer.
