The Long Ride Australia is a motorbike tour that makes a difference and raises awareness and funds for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.

Riders departed from all States and Territories, travelling through rural Australia, across the Nullarbor and up through Alice Springs, or from Perth, Sydney, Darwin, Canberra, Melbourne, and Adelaide to Longreach in Queensland before coming together at Charters Towers and riding into Port Douglas on June 1.

The Long Ride enables riders to experience freedom and mateship while raising awareness of prostate cancer and men’s health.

On this ride, we remember all those that have passed, and those that cannot ride, who are forever in our hearts.

ABOUT:

Chris and Gail Dunne developed the idea of the Long Ride in 2004 when Chris was nearing retirement from the RAAF. Run biennially this year’s Long Ride was the 12th event since conception. Since its inception, the Long Ride has raised more than $2 million for PCFA.

VETERANS GETTING BEHIND IT:

With a veteran leading the charge, it’s no wonder the event has and continues to receive strong support from the Defence community. Around half of the riders are veterans.

WHY:

The Long Ride is structured to raise awareness of prostate cancer and men’s health in all communities while enabling bikers to experience freedom and mateship.

Every dollar raised goes to the PCFA to fund life-saving research and support services offered to men affected by prostate cancer.

Riders stay in different towns each night and explore different sights in magnificent locations each day. They’re a great crew of people who share a common love for riding, which often becomes the basis of lifelong friendships.

This is the real thing, life on the road.

FUNDRAISING for PROSTATE CANCER

Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australian men, with over 25,000 men diagnosed each year. Tragically 10 men die each day from the disease, with 1 in 5 likely to be diagnosed by the age of 85.

Each participant is encouraged to fundraise at least $1000 in donations or sponsorship.

All funds raised through the Long Ride 2024 will be donated to the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA) to support the life-saving research and support services offered to men affected by prostate cancer.
