RSL NSW Branch Matters

MEDIA STATEMENT

The Returned & Services League of Australia (RSL) is aware of issues raised in the Australian Senate by Senator Jacqui Lambie regarding RSL New South Wales State Board.

RSL National President Greg Melick said it must be stressed that the matters raised by Senator Lambie were as yet, untested and unsubstantiated.

Greg Melick said the RSL observed high standards of corporate governance and behaviour, including its directors’ code of conduct, Board charter and conflict of interest policy, and expected all members to follow these at all times.

He said RSL Australia respected the independence of RSL NSW and RSL NSW is now gathering the facts, and in the meantime, support is being provided to all parties involved. RSLA is aware that external workplace relations consultants had been retained to examine the issues.

“The national body is taking all steps to understand the issues. We will work with RSL NSW, noting the matters raised by Senator Lambie, and provide support and recommendations to assist in finding a way forward,” Greg Melick said.
