Congratulations to the winners in the ADF Division at the Kirra Longboard Klassic Surfing Competition 2023

RSL Ambassador CJ Pearce and Belinda Fisher took out first and second place in the ADF Women's division.

Cameron Stewart, (Shr)Ed Bramich, and Jason Weeks took out first, second and third place in the ADF Open Division.

In 2023 the event had 11 divisions. The “Australian Defence Force Division” was open to all men and women who have served their country. RSL Active was the major sponsor covering entry fees to the event for 36 veterans.

About the Kirra LongBoard KlassiC

Based in Coolangatta, QLD, the Kirra Longboard Klassic is a family-friendly longboard event designed to bring like-minded people together for a fun day of surfing. No one is looking for the next world champion, just go-getters keen to get out and enjoy the surf at Kirra Beach.

Competitors are welcome to compete on everything from longboards to mini-mals. Fun boards and soft tops also make an appearance. However, competitors are judged on longboarding criteria. Judges still want to see competitors surfing all of the board on all of the wave. 

In keeping with having fun, it’s not unusual to see competitors riding waves standing on their heads, or doing a dead cockroach.

THE KLK 2023 PROGRAM

FRIDAY 28th JULY

  • From 6.00 pm: Meet and Greet Sign On
    St Helens Bar & Burgers 78 Musgrave St Kirra

SATURDAY 29th JULY

  • 6:00am: Set up - all participants are required to help the event staff to help set up the contest each morning so that we can start on time.

  • 6.30 am: Don some silly Fluro threads and Join in the fun with the crew at Fluro Saturday and have a few laughs.

  • 7:00 am: Amateur heats begin

  • 9:00am: Environmental Activations with Cate

  • 10:30am: Pro heats begin

  • 12:00pm: Free Surf Lessons with Surf Easy

  • 3:00pm: Your Mates beach Bar Opens

  • 4:00pm: Surfing concludes for the day.

  • 5:30pm: Surfstock Music Begins Board Giveaway

  • 9:30pm: Your Mates beach Bar Closes

SUNDAY 30th JULY

  • 7:00 am: Surfing resumes with semi-finals and finals.

  • 9:30 am: Adaptive Surfing Display

  • Competitive surfing continues after the display

  • 3.00 pm: Fancy Dress to round off the day

  • 3:30pm: Surfing Concludes. Pack down the contest arena

  • 4:00pm: Presentation
